Notes: A stencil was cut with the Cricut machine in that shape of an artichoke. The stencil was applied to the back side of a silkscreen and the image was powder printed. One tile was printed with Black Powder (000100-0008) on Clear (001100-0380) as an image reference and the other tile was printed with Clear Powder (1101-0008) on Amethyst Rainbow Irid (001228-0031) . When fired, the clear powder displaces the irid coating, creating a subtle, sparkly effect.

Notes: A variety of black, gold, platinum and mixed Milestone decals were fired on 000403-0030 Opaline. The hold at 185° F is to ensure the decal is dry before the next rate of heat. The hold at 600° F ensures that all organic material is burned out of the decal carrier.
The artichoke decals were fired with this schedule as well. They were ordered from decals4artists.com.
Some of the Opaline tiles were pre-fired (see schedule for pre-firing for enamels and sandblasting). The pre-fired tiles are more opaque due to the additional heatwork.

Notes: Glass was pre-fired to 1490° F to make the surface of the glass smooth. Pre-fired sheets were cut down to 6˝ x 6˝ tiles and lightly beveled to prevent the screen from popping during printing. Imagery of either an artichoke or triangle pattern was printed onto the beveled tiles with a 225-mesh silkscreen. The ppi (for halftone artichokes) and colors used are as follows:

- 001129-0030, white silkscreen paste, 20 ppi
- 000137-0030, black silkscreen paste, stamp filter

Notes: An artichoke was painted using ColorLine enamel paints. The kiln door was closed but not latched and the peeps were out during firing. This painting does not contain any cadmium-bearing enamels (reds, oranges and yellows); There are different firing considerations when firing a piece that includes these colors because they require additional airflow for the colors to mature. The kiln door should be left slightly ajar and the peeps should be out up to 1000 °F. During the 0:15 hold at 930 °F the door should be quickly opened and shut to introduce additional air into the kiln. Latch door and replace peeps after 1000 °F.

Notes: Glass was pre-fused to 1490 °F to make the surface smooth for enamel silkscreening as well as for applying the sandblast resist stencil. Some 000403-0030 Opaline was also pre-fired with this schedule because the process temperature that they experienced at 1425 °F would not be enough heat to fully strike the glass.
